Sleep has always been an important factor of good health and it continues to be. You need to be aiming for around six to eight hours of sleep each night. If this is disturbed then your body can’t repair and rejuvenate ready for the next day. This will leave you feeling exhausted and in need of some rest. There can be many other reasons as to you not getting solid sleep each night. It could be down to stress, medical conditions, or a lumoy mattress. Mattresses should be changed every eight to ten years as they become worn and uncomfortable. 

Balanced Diet

One of the places that a lot of people fall down on when it comes to looking after your health is eating a balanced diet. We know that it’s not the easiest thing in the world to do, especially when there are so many tempting foods just calling your name. But, if you resist it for a little while, you can use whatever you’re craving as a treat on your cheat day. The good thing about a balanced diet is that you should never actually have to deny yourself any specific food as it’s all about having everything in proportion.

Balanced diets will ensure that you are getting the vitamins and nutrients that you need, giving your body everything in order to work at maximum capacity through the years.

Exercise

Exercise is equally as important as watching what you eat, the two go hand in hand. If you incorporate exercise into your daily routine you will feel happier and healthier in no time at all. There is no right or wrong exercise to do, it is whatever you like and can manage. As long as you are exercising for at least 30 minutes a day then this is great. You can exercise in the comfort of your own home if you don’t feel like going out. There are plenty of online videos you can follow along with. If you don’t want to exercise on your own then there are also many options for this. Joining a group will not only encourage you to follow along with the workout, it will also give you the chance to make lifelong friends.

As you reach your middle-aged and senior years you will have to take your health a bit more seriously than you may have done previously. You may be called for regular screenings for certain cancers, bowel and breast cancer for instance. It is important you attend these as they can catch early warning signs that you might miss. You may not think this will help your health but socializing is a wonderful thing. Meeting friends once a week has been proven to lower the risk of developing age-related conditions such as dementia. If you don’t have a close circle of friends then you could join a social group and make some who share your interests.

It is paramount that you look after all aspects of your health, including your mental health. Over time your brain cells can diminish, this leaves you exposed to the risk of Alzeihmer’s and dementia. However, fear not, there are always things you can do to help and delay this happening. Brain training is one way you can exercise your mind, simple word or numer puzzles such as sudoku are amazing at keeping your brian young. All it takes is a couple of puzzles a day and your brain will be right as rain.
