We may be coming into the throes of winter, but all of those skin care routines and tips you picked up for the summer months are still going to be very relevant. In the summer, you ensure that you look after your skin by keeping it moist, supple and protected with sunscreen. And that’s exactly what you have to do in the winter as well.
The harsh winter weather can cause havoc on your skin, and it can make your face and your hands feel raw and chapped. When you use a zinc sunscreen, you can avoid your skin feeling terrible. As the temperatures drop outside, your skin can dry out and your lips will crack. Your hair will even become more brittle and moving from freezing cold weather outside to heaters being on inside doesn’t actually help.
You need to know which lotions and moisturizing creams you should be using for your skin, but you also need to make sure that you stay away from things that are laden and chemicals. - Don’t forget the lip balm. As much as your skin deals with the cold weather, your lips do as well. Chapped and flaky lips are not a good look, and they’re not going to feel great either. During the winter months, you should make sure that you choose products that offer some protection with zinc, and you should also ensure that you find lip balms that are made from natural oils.
- Layer up. You don’t have to go out wearing a balaclava in the winter to keep your skin safe, but you do need to consider layering up so that your body doesn’t suffer from the cold. You can ensure that your skin is well protected by wearing a hat and a scarf, and if you do want to wear a balaclava or something of the sort, then make sure that you are wearing one in bright colors so it doesn’t look like you’re trying to rob a house.
- Stay hydrated. Hydration isn’t just important in the summer months where you sweat a lot, but it’s important in the winter if you want your skin to be healthy. Drink plenty of water and eat moisture rich foods such as fruit and vegetables regularly.It may be the season for comfort food, but that doesn’t mean you can’t chow down on vegetables through soups or stews when your skin is naturally hydrated. You’ll need far fewer products on there and therefore limit your exposure to chemicals.
