You’ve set fitness goals for yourself, dedicated your time, effort, and money to the course, stuck to your workout regimen religiously, changed your diet – you’ve tried it all. Yet, whenever you stand before your mirror, your spirit falls. You’ve done your best – or have you? So, what are you doing wrong? Why do you struggle to see any results with your workout and fitness regimen? Find out if you are making any of these fitness mistakes.

  1. Your workouts lack spice and variety

Variety, they say, is the spice of life, and the same applies to your fitness. You may think that the more you focus on one type of workout or technique, the better you get and the better the results. That may be true for a while, but your body and muscles get used to them after some time, and you fail to challenge them. Repeating the same routine over and over will only make your workouts boring and devoid of motivation. The human body is designed to adapt to anything it receives too much of, and your workouts are no different. So, your best option is to add variety to your sessions; for example, try varying weights and intensity in your routines.

At the same time, you don’t want to be changing your workouts too often, as that will also yield little or no results. You need to switch your routines, but moderately. It will help to stick to one routine for at least a month before you change it.

  1. Not resting enough

Another mistake you may be making is believing that pushing your body to the limits every day is the best way to get the best out of them. On the contrary, it is the best way to get the least out of them. During workouts, you expose your muscles to fatigue, wear, and tear, and rest periods give them the chance to heal and recover. And in fact, that’s how your muscles grow and get stronger. The less time you rest, the more exhausted they become, and the fewer results you see.

  1. Ignoring those niggling pains and aches

Also, it is vital to see a specialist when you feel some pain or discomfort that wouldn’t go away. Pain is your body’s way of telling you something’s wrong and requires attention. If the pain results from pushing your body too far, see your doctor and get some rest. If the pain results from an injury you’re still recovering from, you might want to consider seeing a chiropractor after a personal injury to speed up the healing process.

  1. Ignoring your diet

Some experts will tell you fitness is 70% diet and 30% exercise. That means, no matter how hard you train, if you fail to support it with the proper nutrition, you’ll be taking one step forward and two steps back. The appropriate diet will depend on what your body needs or lacks. You can always speak with your doctor or a dietitian to draw the perfect diet for you.
